Research
First i decided to do some research; to get a idea of what kind of layout and colour scheme i want to use.
Braistorm
I created a brain storm to generate some ideas of the objects and colour which relates to my chosen book (The perks of being a wallflower)

Here i just made a few quick thumbnails to get me started with my design.
Sketches and drawings
I then decided to do some more neater sketches for my design thinking about how to layout the type and any images i could add into my design.
Development
I then picked my three favourite designs and developed them further by adding more detail such as backgrounds and at the end some colour.
Front cover
I took my design onto illustrator, making a few slight adjustments to the design such as putting the word 'Wallflower' as a whole.
Spine of book
With the front cover made it was time to start designing the rest of the book cover. I decided to do the spine next as it wouldn't take too long. Using the same font as i used for my 'Wallflower' on my front cover and the brick wall background.
Back of book
For the back cover of my book i noticed it was looking really dull, so i decided to draw two flowers; Linking in with the word 'Wallflower' in the title. I then had to decided which font i was going to use; my typewriter font, or my 'Wallflower' font. In the end i chose to go with the typewriter font as it was more clearer and easier to read.
Gape folds
I was originally going to leave the gape folds plain, however i had some time to spear so i decided it would look good to create some drawing to make the design look more interesting.
Initial Design
With all of the part of the design made separately, I took them all and put them side by side in a illustrator document, to see how they look as a whole design.
Final Design
I took notes of improvements from my initial design and made all of the changes on illustrator, before going onto my book cover template on InDesign and transferring the design over.
E-Books
I also had to put my design onto an E-Book template, seeing as we are moving into a more digital era. I took the JPEG template off of blackboard and scaled my front cover to fit into both templates.
